True Love, produced in 1995, is a Hentai games classic, and while its graphics have aged a bit it is still considered by many as one of the best Hentai games ever produced. In a scenario that has become the base of many other games, you are playing a young student looking for love, meeting lots of girls and trying to date them, and will end up falling in love with one of them. The game is now abandonware, meaning it can be downloaded for free (see below).
Unlike Visual Novels which rely mostly on reading and taking decisions that influence the story, True Love is a real dating sim, featuring a true roleplay interface. Here not only must you answer the questions that come up during the story, but with every day in the 3 months the game lasts, you must choose what activities you're going to do during this day for each of the morning, afternoon and evening periods. These activities include amongst others going to school, working to earn money, spending that money in shops, preparing your exams and many others.
The activity choices you will make decide who you will encounter, but also they affect positively or negatively 7 characteristics that define your current state : passion, appearance, fatigue, scholarship, physical strength, art, and the amount of cash you own.
These characteristics are crucial to which of the girls will like you depending on their personality, and if you really want to date one of them you need to work on what will please her.
While possible, it is almost impossible to be able to date all nine of the girls in one row of playing the game, dating four or five being more the standard, which, combined to an intelligent “random events” system ensures a very high replayability for the game.
True Love is entertaining, fun, challenging and completely deserves its place as THE classic Hentai game.
